Since 1904 industrial watch making has been in Oris’s bones and craftsmanship is in their souls. Their mechanical watches always conform to the Oris credo: “Things must make sense”. They live for the quality of work that is put into their watches. While others follow a path, they define their own. Go your own way.
Oris is one of a small handful of Swiss watch brands that makes only mechanical watches. A mechanical watch is a thing of beauty, designed according to principles that have been around for generations and will continue long into the future.
Oris is based in the picturesque village of Hölstein in the North-west of Switzerland. The location was chosen by Paul Cattin and Georges Christian, watchmakers from Le Locle, when they founded the company in 1904. Oris is the name of a brook and valley close to Hölstein. It has its origins in the Celtish ‘Aurisa’ and Roman ‘Orusz’ meaning watercourse.
We are still based in the same building, which has expanded to accommodate the growing company. From here our watches are exported all over the world.
